Hi I'm seeing captive nuts come out of housings in the RC pot insert. While I like the elegance of design it complicates things and I'm wondering if it would it be simplest to revert to stainless steel self tapping screws. It might also save a little weight and might make printing the insert a little faster.
I am having exactly the same issue, if the nut is at all canted, or has the slightest amount of glue in the thread, then getting the bolt in is difficult or forces out the nut. I think self tappers are the way to go. In fact I have used them on the battery box.
I wax the bolt first, then thread it in. Epoxy/glue does not stick to it then.
i used a hot knife to melt the surrounding plastic to capture each nut and hold it in place. It worked well for me during assembly and reassembly as required.
